I am Dr. Faan Hechter, a general dentist that graduated in 1981, afterwards serving in the Medical Corps of the SADF for 2 years in Port Elizabeth and Rundu on the border of South West Africa. Thereafter I started the dental services for the Department of Health in the North Eastern Cape. In 1989 I joined the private dental practice of Dr. Frik Claassen in Despatch. In 2005 we started the group, Dentists@Health. I am still practicing in Despatch.
I see myself as a dentist with an interest in all disciplines of dentistry, focusing on minimal invasive techniques. I follow our slogan Preserve, Restore and Enhance religiously.
I love Orthodontics with the emphasis on a healthy TMJ, Endodontics with laser therapy and Surgical procedures like Implant Dentistry and Wisdom teeth removal with minimal trauma. The most satisfying for me however is to do a complete smile makeover with composite resin material without virtually removing any healthy tooth structure.
My family is very important to me and I see my patients as family too. I love the outdoor life, like deep sea angling and sustainable, responsible hunting. I participate in all disciplines of sport shooting and I am the senior training officer of the Kwagga branch of the South African Hunting and Game Conservation Association. I also recently started playing bowls as a sport.
I place a very high value on my Christian beliefs and try living accordingly. I also see my friends at Harvest Christian Church as family.
